Fortified by a delicious breakfast, the camera girlz set off for their climb up Goatfell. Birthday camera girl was sporting her new hiking outfit including new rucksack, cool shades and extra long camera lens.
Both girlz were a bit surprised, having climbed a fair bit, when Goatfell came into view – it looked enormous and a very steep clamber to the top. It was.
The girlz had forgotten their anti-midgie stuff so were at the mercy of the sabre tooth Scottish midgie, not nearly as friendly as their non-biting Icelandic cousins. The girlz were soon sporting a fine selection of bites.
Unperturbed, the girlz scrambled on, reaching the top to admire the wonderful scenery. Some sun and clear skies helped the views enormously.
A short stop for a snack and a few more midgie bites and the girlz were on their way on the long slog back to the car. Tired but happy they headed for the nearest cheese scone and tea shop followed by a quick visit to the chemist to get part of the midgie bite cure.
A swim, pre-prandial champagne and a lovely meal at the hotel’s Eighteen69 eatery finished off a wonderful day.
